Ingles is a smart chain.....They stay out of the large cities, and build in the smaller markets, where the prices are not as competitive.

So if you give the customer what they want at a fair price, they will flock to you and make you profitable/ What business school teaches that?

I've never seen an Ingles Markets store; however, if I do see one, I will shop there. If they are customer-friendly enough to sell gasoline at cost during the Ike crisis (as opposed to some Chevron stations in the Houston area that doubled their prices the day after the storm), I am willing to go there.

Talk about a positive spin.

If this was talking about Walmart or Exxon, the headline would be that Ingles Markets, Inc Reports a 30% drop in profits which is what they are reporting.

For the GasBuddy moderator ... find stories related to "news" of use to your audience. This attempt could be unkindly classified as a "miserable failure" or kindly classified as "misguided". I've read the whole article and no useful information is present. Perhaps you could "do a better job" in article selection.

Ingles has grocery stores and sells gas at many in the SE. They seem to be doing better in their grocery profits. When fuel prices increased, we saw food prices go up dramatically. Now that fuel has fallen, food prices should also - but they have not. This article seems to support that since the grocery part of their business has done well in the past 12 months.

I have to worry when somebody reports such a massive profit and attributes it to "energy costs, weather-related disruptions in retail gasoline operations, and higher costs". This means they are "sticking it" to somebody.
