We thought of giving all our friends a free year of gas, but my wife thought it was not sentimental enough. Just kidding!

I almost always give some automobile related gift for part of the gifts at Christmas and for the kids birthdays - like window scrapers, car washing supplies, lock deicer, gas cards

Absolutly not! Nor will I ask to pay their power bill, or phone bill, or mortgage. It wouldn't feel like a true gift on the giving or receiving end to help pay a standard bill. Our city assessors came through, and reevaluat4ed everyones homes, and of cource increased the values so they could increase taxes on them. Then the insurance company wrote us a letter, and said the city indicated the house was worth more. So our mortgage went up for the escrow to cover the taxes, and our insurance went up. Now we are paying $200 more a month for our total mortgage, but I wouldn't ask, nor would it feel right if someone asked to help me pay my mortgage for a gift. These are standard bills, and they fluctuate..... just deal with it so someone can get a true gift.... ;-)

Unsure but it is a good idea since the cost of gas has risen. I do give US postage stamps in Christmas Stockings to all the children (over 19) and on their own.....

My daughter and myself give our mail carrier a gas card every year for being so prompt with our mail, and also for being so considerate and understanding when we have had any problems dealing with our mail.
