My Gulf Card doesn't give a cash back bonus, but reduces the price $0.05/gal if you use it to pay at the pump (in Austin, TX, anyway)..

I use a Amex card with 3% back. I have people tell me I should pay cash since it is like a nickel cheaper with cash. I try to explain that with 3% back I am actually saving 9 cents at $3.00/ gal and 12 cents when it was $4.00. It is so much cheaper to use a credit card.

I used a bp credit card that paid a 5% reward for about 6 years. Now they changed the program and I have completely quit using bp gas and found that other gases run better in my car and get better gas mileage.

AAA 5% cash back at any station. In order to count, the purchase must be pay-at-the-pump. Also, I have to make an equal number of non-gas purchases with the card each month. Saves me an average of $20 per month.

Cash back, and although its a small cash back, its better than getting nothing at all. once again, with the increase in fuel charges the family has cut out all other purchases to compensate.

For 3 years I have used a AAA Visa for 3% cash back on fuel. I learned that you have to be careful with it though; if you buy a sandwich and a drink as well as fuel, you just messed yourself over on the 3%. So, use it for fuel only and when you go into a facility and not pay at the pump, be sure that the receipt shows for gasoline only. I recently found on-line that Chase Bank whom I am a customer, offers a Chase Freedom Visa which gives a 5% cash back on gasoline, 3% on groceries, and 3% on Rx drugs + 1% on everything else. Now, I put my AAA Visa away and have not used it in over 3 weeks...however someone else decided to use it and I got a Bank of America Fraud call yesterday for 3 purchases that I did not make, so they closed that account, supposedly with no charges to me, other than the balance that I owed which will be transferred over to my new account. With unemployment going through the roof thank to BHO, people now work harder at being criminals than they did when they worked.

What card gives 5% cash back?
I hope the answer is something other than Discover.
Why? Because to get 5% back from Discover you are carrying a large debt at 15% to 29%. I only get 1% because I pay it off. (I use it as a convenience, not a loan. For a loan, I get better rates borrowing in the classic model.)
