I've only been there in the summer and indeed it is brutally hot. I actually don't go into Palm Springs but into the surrounding towns like Coachella and Indio.

Coachella hosts one of the greatest alternative music festivals in April. Huge.

Another freaky place to check out is The Slabs in Niland on the Salton Sea. It is an abandoned military base and each winter hordes of old hippies and snowbirds camp there. It kinda resembles something out of a post apocalyptic Mad Max movie. A vibrant and astounding community which basically picks up and leaves when the weather gets too hot.

ANd despite my misgivings over wind power, passing through the enormous wind installation outside Palm Springs is like something from another planet. It really is quite a site.

Lots of border patrol activity as you are kinda near Mexico, expect to pass through check points. I've been stopped several times and had my car checked out by US authorities looking for smuggled illegals. (They think I'm a coyote)

I lived just north of there. Personally, I've never understood the attraction. You really need to check the weather, because sometimes it's 90 degrees on Thanksgiving, and other times it's rainy and cold then. The tram is fun. It's the largest temperature change in the world. It was 114 degrees in the valley when I went in July, and 65 degrees at the top. Nice art galleries, and driving into Rancho Mirage, there's about 5 restaurants around a man made waterway.

Sorry, no I can't since I've never been there before. But the name Palm Springs just makes the place sound gorgeous.
