Can I get to the legendary Mall of America to check it out for the first time within my layover window?

I understand its 'across the interstate' from the airport. Can I walk? Take a cab? Does the Minneapolis airport have long security lines for when I re-enter?

I went to MOA April 2011 ...I havn't been there since 1995

Mostly walked around it , crowded , I didn't buy one thing.

I didn't see alot of people carrying alot of bags ( 7 or more ) .

People were just walking around , that was it .

<<<<It takes most people a day or two to see everything.>>>>

But where is it written that you must see everything? Why not simply stumble around for a couple of hours in one of the world's legendary shopping meccas?

Sure beats sitting on an airport bench for 5 hours, despite not seeing everything.

Huh? Why would anyone take a cab? The train stops in the airport and takes you over to the mall. Who would spend $20 on a cab and 20 minutes driving when the train gets you there in 2 minutes for under $2?

.
Please try to give more realistic advice...

You can get there during your layover okay but I would be sure and check out their website to see where everything is. It takes most people a day or two to see everything.

How can the biggest shopping mall in North American not be "worth the trouble"?

The trip from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport to the Mall of America is a very short taxi ride. The MOA is a fantastic place to see and shop.

Nevermind, I discovered that the the train stops right in the airport and takes you over to the mall.
